On May 9-10, 2025, Finance Center for South-South Cooperation, in collaboration with the University of Melbourne and the Green Agriculture Research Institute, successfully held the "2025 International Seminar on Advancing Green Agriculture (AGA 2025): Standards, Measurement, Policy, and Impact" in Melbourne, Australia. This seminar is the second international conference initiated by the Global South Network for Sustainable Agriculture (GSNSAD).
Dr. Wu Zhong, Director General of FCSSC, delivered the opening remarks, emphasizing the urgent need for collaborative action in global agricultural transformation. The event gathered leading scholars, international organizations, investors, civil society organizations (CSOs), and industry practitioners to explore innovative pathways for enhancing agricultural productivity and environmental sustainability.
On the afternoon of May 9, attendees participated in a thematic seminar focused on building the GSNSAD. As a key agenda item of AGA 2025, this session highlighted experiences from other agricultural knowledge networks in the Asia-Pacific region. Dr. Cheng Enjiang, Senior Advisor of FCSSC, moderated the session. Dr. Wu Zhong introduced the FCSSC's objectives, while Dr. Liu Qianqian, Deputy Director General of FCSSC, reported on the progress of GSNSAD over the past year. Experts and guests had a lively engaged discussion on GSNSAD's governance mechanisms and future activities, actively offering suggestions and feedback. The meeting further emphasized GSNSAD's commitment to knowledge sharing, policy innovation, and cross-border collaboration to promote sustainable agricultural practices.
On May 10, participants visited areas around Melbourne to examine organic soil conditions and discussed feasible ways to promote sustainable agriculture.
